Dr. Terry Owen’s journey to Owen Dental Care started in May of 1978 when he graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Dentistry and then on to Chadron with wife Brenda and 1 year old son Zachary. They opened their dental practice at 101 East 6th (still here!) on August 1, 1978 with 1 dental chair, 1 dentist, one receptionist (Brenda) and one assistant. Over the ensuing years they have added to their family (daughter, Lacey and son, Jonathan) as well as staff and dental office. Terry and Brenda agree that Chadron has been a great place to raise a family, as well as a great place to live, work, and worship.
Terry says “It is with humility that I acknowledge and thank God for our patients from Chadron and the surrounding area and for the opportunities we have had to care for their dental needs and get to know them as friends as well as patients. Of course, I would be remiss not to acknowledge our fine dental staff without which we would not be able to provide the best of care for our patients, nor would we have near as much fun at work.”
Owen Dental Care has been family owned and operated now since 1978 and with sons Jonathan and Zachary and daughter Lacey Merkel involved with our new state of the art facility, Owen Dental Care will be here for our patients for years to come.

Dr. Jonathan Owen joined Owen Dental Care in July of 2009 after graduating from University of Nebraska College of Dentistry. He feels privileged to be living back in his home town of Chadron with his wife, Kimmi and his four children Jackson, Levi, Reese, and Quinn. Dr. Zachary Owen was born and raised in western Nebraska, although he graduated from high school at Campion Academy in Loveland. After an internship in Augusta, Georgia, he returned to Colorado to complete his residency at Denver Health Medical Center. Dr. Zachary practices as an Oral Surgeon in Loveland, Colorado and joins Owen Dental Care monthly to perform wisdom teeth removal, implants, and full mouth extractions.

Brenda Owen and Dr. Terry, along with their one year old toddler, Zachary, moved to Chadron in the May of 1978 and by August of that year opened Owen Dental Care. Over the years she has enjoyed working in the business office and meeting and greeting patients who have ultimately become friends. Each morning she looks forward to coming to the office to work alongside a great staff which now includes her three children, Zachary, Lacey, and Jonathan.
When she finds free time Brenda loves cooking, playing the piano, and hiking mountain trails. But she is happiest when she and Terry are surrounded with their family of kids and grandkids.
